How to Transfer Your Existing Phone Number to Fongo

Fongo Mobile Port-In Instructions

* Do not contact your current provider indicating your intention of cancelling service with them. Once porting to Fongo is completed your account with your old provider will be automatically cancelled.

  1. Download the Fongo app to your smartphone
  2. Create a Fongo account and get your own Fongo number (even though you you are porting-in your own)
  3. Within the app, go to Account > Support > Submit a Support Request > Fill in the fields (Subject: Port-In, Description: Please unlock the online store, Issue Type: Fongo Mobile > Online store unlock)
    *If you’re in Canada, the online store will be unlocked within one day of submitting the request. An email will be sent to you once the store is unlocked.
    *If you’re outside of Canada or if your IP address is wrongfully placing you outside of Canada (which happens occasionally) an email will be sent to you which says your request was denied. In that email there will be instructions on how to contact support via phone and they will verify your eligibility for the online store.
  4. On your computer, go to fongo.com and log in to your Fongo account. Select Online Store > Transfer my number> $25 one-time fee. Do not click world credits or auto renew. Click Buy.
  5. Fill out the required information fields.
    *If you are porting-in a VoIP service phone number (MagicJack, Vonage, Acanac, etc.) choose “Landline” as your number type
    *For regular mobile phone numbers, choose “Mobile” as your number type
  6. Double check that all fields are correctly filled out because if there is an error, the order will still go through but port-in will be unsuccessful so you will need to contact support to resolve the issue. Click Continue.
  7. Fill out billing information and click Complete Purchase.

Once the payment is successfully received, you will receive a port-in confirmation email. This means that the port-in process is in motion and will be completed within 3 business days. If you did not receive this email it means that there is something wrong with the information you provided for port-in. Contact support to resolve the issue.

Fongo Home Phone Port-In Instructions

Requesting port-in at sign-up  ($20)

  1. On your computer, go to fongo.com, click sign up, scroll down to home phone and click sign up.
  2. In step 1, check both boxes and click continue.
  3. Continue following instructions.
    *Note: At step 7, you will be assigned a temporary Fongo phone number. This is just used for the sign up process, your port-in number will replace it once porting is complete.

Requesting port-in after sign-up  ($25)

  1. On your computer, go to fongo.com and log in to your Fongo account. Select Online Store > Transfer my number> $25 one-time fee. Do not click world credits or auto renew. Click Buy.
  2. Fill out the required information fields.
  3. Double check that all fields are correctly filled out because if there is an error, the order will still go through but port-in will be unsuccessful so you will need to contact support to resolve the issue. Click Continue.
  4. Fill out billing information and click Complete Purchase.

If you did not receive this email it means that there is something wrong with the information you provided for port-in. Contact support to resolve the issue.

Fongo Works Port-In Instructions

  1. On your computer, go to www.fongoworks.com and sign in to your Fongo Works Business account.
  2. Once signed in, click on the “Shop” icon in the top right corner of the screen.
  3. Scroll down to Number Transfer and select either Local Phone Number or Toll Free Number based on the number that you’re porting.
  4. Input your information into the required fields, check both boxes and click save.
  5. Click Checkout and input the required information into the fields, then click complete order.
  6. You will recieve an invoice for your order via email.
  7. Once your porting order has begun, you will get an email to let you know the process has begun. You will also get an email once your port is completed.

Freephoneline Desktop App Port-in Instructions

  1. Log in to your account at freephoneline.ca then click “Visit Online Store”
  2. Select transfer my number: $25 One-time fee and click “Buy”
  3. Fill out the required fields and then payment information
