You can choose whether your voicemail’s are saved in the Fongo cloud, or if they’re saved on your home phone device’s answering machine.

Voicemails Saved in Fongo Cloud

Voicemails Saved On Your Answering Machine

  • Your home phone device may have its own answering machine for voicemail messages, which you can use instead of Fongo’s cloud voicemail. It will have its own settings/features.

Messages Forwarded to Email

Voicemail

Keep all your important communications in one place. Voicemail-to-email sends your audio messages right to your inbox so you can listen on any device—simply toggle it on in your account settings to activate it.

Texts

If you have voicemail-to-email enabled on your home phone system, any text messages that are sent to your home phone number will also be forwarded to your email inbox.

Note: add vm.fongo.com to your safe senders list to keep your forwarded messages out of the junk filter.

There are several ways to listen to your voicemail messages stored in the Fongo Cloud:

  • While using Fongo’s cloud voicemail, you can dial *98 on your handset to listen to your voicemail messages.
  • Log in to your account online to check your voicemail
  • Call a remote number (you can call it from any phone and check your voicemail) – You’ll need to:
    1. Dial one of the remote access numbers
    2. Enter your 10-digit Fongo phone number, including the “1”
    3. Enter your voicemail password
  • You can also have voicemail messages forwarded to your email.

Yes, you can.

  1. Log in to your Fongo Home Phone account here
  2. Enter the “Voicemail & Texts Settings” area
  3. Under Voicemail, select Disable from the dropdown

Note: You will still be able to dial your voicemail box. This will only prevent incoming callers from reaching your voicemail box. Text-to-email messages will continue to function.

  • From your home phone, dial-in to your voicemail box (*98)
  • Select “3” for personal options
  • Select “3” for greetings
    • Press “1” for a extended absence greeting
    • Press “2” for a Personal Greeting
    • Press “3” to record your name

Pleas note that this will change both the greeting language and the voicemail box language to French.

  1. Log in to your account online
  2. Select Settings
  3. Select Voicemail & Texts Settings
  4. Change the preferred language from English to French
  5. Click update to save your changes

Voicemails Forwarded to Email

You can have all your voicemail messages forward directly to your email inbox as they come in. Also, any text messages that are sent to your Fongo Home Phone number will be forwarded to your email inbox. Here’s how:

  1. Enter your Fongo Home Phone account settings here
  2. Enter the “Voicemail & Texts Settings” area

  3. Enter your email address in the respective field
  4. Set one of the following options
    • none – an email will NOT be sent to you but the voicemail will remain in your Voicemail Mailbox. Text messages sent to your number will not be forwarded to your email.
    • forward – an email will be sent to you and the voicemail will be deleted from your Voicemail Mailbox
      • The voicemail will not be accessible through *98
      • Text messages will be sent to your email
    • copy : default – an email will be sent to you and stay available in your voice mail box
      • The voicemail will be accessible through *98
      • Text messages will be sent to your email

Not receiving the voicemail emails?

If your voicemail-to-email settings are set properly (following the instructions above), your email service could be redirecting these messages to your spam/junk folder, deleting them immediately, or rejecting the messages entirely.

Yes, if you have Fongo’s cloud voicemail enabled, faxes are sent to your voicemail box. They are viewable on account.fongo.com under the voicemail page.
